Today, I learned about a man named Joseph Kony.

Joseph Kony is the leader of a group called the Lord's Resistance Army, or LRA, in Uganda. He has been kidnapping children from their parents. He turns the girls into sex slaves. He gives guns to the boys and forces them to serve in his army. Then he makes them murder their parents.
Joseph Kony has kidnapped over 30 thousand children, and killed still thousands more.

For 26 years Kony was allowed to continue with these tactics, for no reason other than a thirst for power. There was no other resisting force.

Not until one brave man named Jason Russel changed that.
Jason is a film maker. He went to Uguanda. He saw the horror, and befriended a child by the name of Jason. Jason had watched his own brother get his throat slit for trying to run from the LRA.
The resistance came in the form of a social networking group called Invisible Children Inc. that Jason created after the US government refused to help. Together, more than 600'000 people across the world rallied together to force the US government into realizing that something had to be done.

On October 14, 2011, the US government sent 100 Troops to assist Uganda in removing Joseph Kony from the battlefield.
But Joseph Kony found out.
Now he is hiding.
For the US troops find and eliminate Joseph Kony, we need to continue showing interest in this cause. If we do not, the troops will be removed, and thousands more children will be kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery and other acts that children should never be a part of.

Their voice was heard. Your's can be, too.
